“Mars Dune Alpha” is a roughly 160-square-foot simulation space modeled on Mars, NASA announced Friday. Here participants must take care of the harvest, living space, machines and maintenance, among other things, as well as do sports. This is the second such simulation that is part of NASA’s “Chapea” program aimed at preparing missions to Mars.
Anyone with a college degree in natural sciences and at least 1,000 hours of flight time can apply by April 2, NASA said. Additionally, applicants must be between 30 and 55 years old, be “healthy and motivated,” be a non-smoker, and have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Usage will be compensated. (SDA)
