The final episodes of “The Walking Dead” will mainly focus on the fate of the Commonwealth, which is now in turmoil after the revelation of Governor Pamela Milton’s (Laila Robins) lies. One of the reasons for this was the death of Sebastian Milton (Teo Rapp-Olsson), who was pushed by Eugene (Josh McDermitt) while he more or less accidentally tried to save his great love Max (Margot Bingham) from a walker. to eat.
As usual in the “Walking Dead” world, the spoiled son of the Commonwealth leader then became a voracious undead himself. But instead of saving him from this fate, his mother wanted to let him live and summarily threw him into the prison cell of the disgraced former Commonwealth No. 2 Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton), who had to feed him.
When Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) rescue Hornsby in episode 20 of the 11th and final “Walking Dead” season so he can lead them to their kidnapped friends, Daryl first makes short work of him in the tried and true tested way zombified Sebastian. A quick stab in the head puts an end to the politician’s posterity. When the indignant Pamela finds him moments later, his entire skull is suddenly shattered without us having seen how that happened beforehand. Did the team behind the Zombie series make a continuity error here? Probably not…
Lance vented to Sebastian
While we don’t get to see Sebastian’s head shredded that badly, the current episode of “The Walking Dead” offers clear, if rather marginally interspersed, evidence that someone was actually actively responsible and not the creators* just wanted to add another one. . gory effect in itself (especially since there are plenty of other disgusting moments in the episode).
It’s relatively clear: Lance Hornsby was working on Sebastian’s skull after Daryl’s knife blow. Before leaving his cell with Daryl and Carol, he explains that he still has something to do, without us seeing exactly what he means by that immediately or later in the episode. In addition, Pamela finds Lance’s trademark lucky coin in the gory remains of her son, whom he often – Batman villain Two-Face sends his regards – let decide his course of action.
That Lance Sebastian gives another one here certainly fits with the character’s development. On the one hand, it makes sense that the mentally battered self reacts to Sebastian – after the ordeal he has endured and all the years he has fulfilled the wishes of Pamela and the brazen Sebastian without getting the recognition he craved. That he also leaves behind his beloved coin is a very clear message to Pamela, to whom he wants to make it clear that he is responsible for the condition of her son’s corpse.
It might be a little confusing that Sebastian’s dead body suddenly looks different from scene to scene, but we’re probably not dealing with a directing error here. It’s just not explicitly described or even shown what happened in the meantime (It is not yet known if a corresponding scene was actually filmed but then dropped). This way we at least get a more subtle character moment in a not (anymore) particularly subtle series.
