Nearly 60 years ago, the sitcom “Bewitched,” also known as “Bewitched” in this country, first flickered across U.S. television screens. Between 1964 and 1972, a total of eight seasons, 254 episodes were produced – and to this day the series still has countless fans eager to learn more about the family life of the witch Samantha Stephens (Elizabeth Montgomery) and her unmagical husband Darrin (Dick York / later Dick Sargent).
Although there have been rumors over the years about a possible TV reboot, little has happened in all that time. Only a reasonably nice feature film with Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman appeared in cinemas in 2005.
But apparently Sony is currently hard at work on a reboot of the classic sitcom — and to do so, they’ve teamed up with the author of “The Boys” and the producer of “Gen V.” Judalina Neira also brought on board skilled support to develop the project. This is now the result of an exclusive report from out.
Don’t expect a new “The Boys”
Anyone hoping that we will see a second ‘The Boys’ should know: that will not be the case. Judalina Neira should certainly thoroughly modernize the material (also in terms of humor), but the series reboot of the actually romantic and playful sitcom ‘In Love with a Witch’ should logically not be as horrifyingly rough and brutal as ‘The Boys’. Furthermore, through her work on productions such as ‘The Flash’ and ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’, the author has already proven that she can do more than just cheeky comedy fun.
Still, the reinterpretation is unlikely to be entirely tame: the Neira-written series has been described as a disrespectful or disrespectful reinterpretation of the classic television series.
The project is currently still in the early stages of development, so it is not yet possible to say exactly when and how we will be able to enjoy the “Bewitched” reboot in this country.
