If LEGO can’t do it, Mold King should do it: this is what the LEGO Orient Express should actually look like

If you search YouTube for reviews of the Lego Orient Express, you will find videos with titles such as ‘Slap in the face for Lego train fans’, ‘No quality’ and ‘The biggest mistake Lego could have made’. There is a lot of criticism of the set because Lego delivers far too little quality for around 300 euros. Fortunately, there is an alternative: that Mold King’s Orient Express.

To the deal

Amazon is currently offering a 20 percent discount on the Orient Express and is offering the set for just 143.65 euros. This means that the train currently costs less than half as much as before Lego equivalent*.

Mold King Orient Express: That’s why it’s better than the Lego version

Only from Price performance ratio The Mold King train is miles ahead of the Lego competition. The set consists of 3,898 parts and consists of a motorized (!) locomotive with tender, a wagon and rails. The train is 118.5 centimeters long. A large circle of tracks can be built with the 32 included rails. There are also two (!) motors, a steam function, a battery box, a remote control and LED lighting for the front.

And Lego? The Orient Express of the Danish global group consists of 2,540 shares. The locomotive and the two wagons are 116 centimeters long. However, you will search in vain for the engine, lighting and tracks. You only get a few rails on which to place the train and wagons. That is it. You have to do it without a moving and steaming train.

Much more quality for much less money

To make it clear again: just that Tender from the Mold King set is larger than the locomotive from the Lego set. Lego adds a second car. Overall, Mold King’s Orient Express is considerably more impressive and larger than its Danish counterpart and also closer in design to the original – and at less than half the price of Lego.

The Mold King locomotive has that too printed parts and is specifically aimed at adults. The structure is quite complex, but is well guided by the instructions. However, please note that you must connect the lighting and technology using the supplied set. It’s not rocket science, but you do need to have some manual skills.

Once set up, you’ll be rewarded with a stylish train that can travel at three speeds considerable power brings with you. There is also steam coming from the locomotive’s chimney and the headlights are shining. The model is bursting with details and is guaranteed to impress.

More moves from Mold King

Mold King is still offering many more trains bee. The cheapest set 12027 is also one remote controlled diesel locomotive* with 1,090 parts for only 75.25 euros.

Mold King trains are all motorized and remote controlled. The supplied remote control or the app can be used for this. Each set also includes rails, so you can gradually build up a long track as you purchase multiple sets. This also makes the Mold Kings a real alternative to Lego.
