“Deadpool & Wolverine” heralds big changes in the MCU – the first trailer already reveals the badass mercenary Deadpool as Marvel’s Jesus incarnation, who with his latest appearance will likely right a few things in the comic universe and franchise after some want it get his multiverse excursion back on track after an unexpected detour.
And apparently the fans are on fire too, highly anticipating the loudmouthed comic book killer’s latest meta-adventure. Based on the number of views of the first moving images, there is certainly no superhero fatigue, on the contrary: According to official information from Disney, it even set a historic record: with 365 million views within the first 24 hours, it was the most successful trailer launch of all time.
The previous leader is also from the Marvel Universe
With this value, the clash between Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine beats the previous leader “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, which had a whopping 355.5 million views in the same period after its 2021 release.
However, there is one caveat to the record: the record for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was helped by the fact that the 365 million view count also includes the views generated during the Super Bowl broadcast, which was shown as part of the preview video celebrated its premiere. On CBS, approximately 123 million people watched the football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers – also a new high.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether the first R-rated MCU blockbuster can turn these fantastic numbers into cash at the box office. The latest cinema outing of the almost indestructible mutant mercenary will be released in German cinemas on July 24, 2024.
