Since Netflix added the western series ‘Yellowstone’ to its programme, the super hit from the US, home to the streaming service Paramount+, has also been on everyone’s lips here. However, lead actor Kevin Costner has already moved on – after leaving “Yellowstone” he devoted himself to his two-part western saga “Horizon”, which we can look forward to in cinemas soon: “Horizon – Part 1” opens on August 22, 2024, “Horizon – Part 2” will follow on November 7, 2024.
The Western epic, which Dances With Wolves not only stars in but also directs, is said to have been a labor of love for the star and one of the reasons he left Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone. But it seems like there’s more room in Costner’s heart for projects he pursues with great passion.
Because while both “Horizon” films haven’t even hit theaters yet, and Costner is reportedly even pursuing a plan to make two more “Horizon” films if they’re successful, he now has the next film in the works, which is detailed in an article by as which is described as a passion project for the actor.
This time, however, Costner leaves the lead to a colleague, a good acquaintance. That one more untitled Kevin Costner film is of Ariel Vromen staged, with whom Costner already recorded the thriller “The Jerico Project – In the Killer’s Head” in 2016. Costner will star and produce the script.
Will it be another western?
Filming will start in early 2025, so the Hollywood star can take care of the completion and promotion of ‘Horizon’ until then – but that’s really all for information about the project. It is still unknown what exactly Costner’s new film will be about. But the most pressing question is probably: will it be another western, since Costner has been increasingly active in this genre lately and westerns in particular have always been one of the actor’s great passions?
At least Ariel Vromen told us expressed his excitement for the project: “I couldn’t be more honored to be working with my friend and colleague again, especially when it is Kevin’s long-term passion project.”
