But see for yourself from the highlights among the reboots of the week from February 12 to 18 on Netflix:
Monday: dramatic boxer biopic
The week starts with a biopic about George Foreman, who was born in Texas in 1949 and grew up to become one of the most famous and successful boxers in the world and can claim both Olympic victories and world championships. George Tillmann Jr. (“The Hate You Give”) directs Khris Davis “Great George Foreman” in the role of the exceptional athlete who fought his way to the top from a poor background before hanging up his boxing gloves to become a preacher and help young people in his community. For this he returns to the ring…
Tuesday: Bitter evil comedy from Poland
In Filip Zylber’s comedy “Kill me if you dare” The lives of newlyweds Piotre (Mateusz Banasiuk) and Natalie (Weronika Ksiazkiewicz) are turned upside down when they suddenly win five million euros in the lottery. Instead of being happy about it and planning their future together with lots of vacations and nice purchases, the two are literally at each other’s throats and try to kill each other. What better way to get in the mood for Valentine’s Day approaching?
Wednesday: It’s going to be romantic
Of course, we would also like to recommend a truly romantic movie for Valentine’s Day. This is what the rom-com has in store for you “Players” directed by Trish Sie, in which “Jane The Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez wants to wrap ex “Lucifer” Tom Ellis around her finger. However, the charming war correspondent does not fall for the games of the successful sports journalist and so she learns a life lesson together with her best friend and wingman Adam (‘New Girl’ alumni Damon Wayans Jr.).
Thursday: Cult film to dance along to
Kevin Bacon danced his way back in 1984 “Footless” in the hearts of countless music fans. If you’re in the mood for an absolute cult film again, you can find the danceable film on Netflix from Thursday. On the other hand, if you are thirsty for harder food, you can go to the Japanese series “House of Ninjas” look, in which ninjas are not extinct, but still alive in modern-day Japan. The Tawara family is one of the last remaining ninja clans and suddenly finds themselves in the middle of a battle against a terrible danger that threatens the future of all of Japan.
Friday: sensation from Sweden
In the action thriller “The abyss” A small mining town in Sweden becomes the center of a serious disaster. Safety manager Frigga (Tuva Novotny) works in the largest mine in the world, the Kiirunavaara mine in Kiruna in northern Sweden. When her ex-husband visits for their son’s birthday and an argument breaks out, several tunnels in the mine suddenly collapse, leaving dangerous fissures in the small town. From now on, Frigga fights not only for her own survival, but also for that of countless people, especially her own children.
Saturday: Fast action that just hit theaters
The fast cars will not come onto the market until August 2023 “Gran Turismo” across the cinema screens. Almost six months later, the action drama starring ‘Saltburn’ newcomer Archie Madakwe, ‘Stranger Things’ star David Harbor and Orlando Bloom (‘Pirates of the Caribbean’) is now waiting for you on Netflix in the streaming program. In it, young Jann dreams of driving on the race track himself instead of just virtually pressing the accelerator on the PlayStation. When he is invited to a major tournament, his dream can suddenly become reality, but he must first prove himself among the experienced motorsport athletes.
In our FILMSTARTS review, Christoph Petersen gives the film 3.5 stars and writes: “Unlike ‘Barbie’, which ironically breaks from its role as an ‘advertising film’ for Mattel, the ‘Gran Turismo’ film is clearly intended as marketing film. Product designed for the game series of the same name, PlayStation and Nissan. That is why it is actually all the more remarkable that it (still) works so well as a gripping racing film.”
Sunday: Long-awaited video game film adaptation
Netflix continues to enter the world of video games on Sunday and serves you one of the most anticipated movie adaptations of the past decade. After numerous director changes and postponements, it was finally February 2022 “Not mapped” directed by Ruben Fleischer hit theaters and introduced us to the “Spider-Man” star Tom Holland as young Nathan Drake, who meets his future mentor Sully (Mark Wahlberg) for the first time and joins him in search of his missing brother and a gold treasure worth five billion dollars. Almost exactly to the day, two years later you can find the film for free for subscribers in the streaming service’s program.
In our FILMSTARTS review, we gave the video game adaptation 3.5 stars, with Benjamin Hecht writing: “’Uncharted’ is a successful blockbuster adventure that delivers both fan service and over-the-top action sequences.”
