Taylor Swift sold the rights to film ‘The Eras Tour’

Taylor Swift has sold the rights to her movie ‘The Eras Tour’ to Disney+ for more than $75 million, according to US media.

Triumph of Disney prevailed in the bidding war involving streaming platforms “streaming” as Netflix and Universalas reported by the American media Puck, and repeated by publications such as Variety and The Wrap.

Concert film Fast It collected over $261 million worldwide in its conventional theatrical run and will now hit the entertainment giant’s platform on March 15.

The streaming version of the tape will be titled as ‘Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor Version)’, which will include the song ‘Cardigan’, from their album ‘Folklore’ (2020) and four additional acoustic tracks that have not been revealed.

“We know the public will love the chance to relive it the electrifying ‘Taylor Swift: Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version)’ whenever they want on Disney+,” Disney chairman Bob Iger said during the company’s earnings call Wednesday.

The film, released globally on October 13, 2023, is based on the artist’s international tour of the same name. It became the highest-grossing concert film in history, earning $123.5 million in its opening days.

The launch thus surpassed the record of Michael Jackson’s song ‘This Is It’, which collected 74.25 million dollars in 2009, and in December 2023, his tour became the most profitable in history as it was the first to collect more than 1 billion dollars.

Swift’s triumphs extended to 2024 as she was crowned Album of the Year for her work on ‘Midnights’ during the 66th Grammy Awards, becoming the first female artist to achieve a record four prizes accumulated in the specified category.
