Just a year ago, no one would have even remotely thought of something like a Two And A Half Men reunion featuring the original two and a half men of the title. Ultimately, these fell apart in spectacular fashion when figurehead Charlie Sheen was fired from the hit sitcom (and eventually replaced by Ashton Kutcher) due to drug problems and his increasingly violent behavior (particularly towards series creator Chuck Lorre).
But things look different now: after years, Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen actually reconciled in 2023. Additionally, Sheen even guest-starred in Lorre’s new comedy series “Bookie.” Naturally, this gave the many “Two And A Half Men” fans hope: Could we possibly get a revival season of the sitcom that will conclude it with the original cast? This wishful thinking was further fueled by the fact that Jake actor Angus T. Jones also dropped by ‘Bookie’ for a tongue-in-cheek ‘Two And A Half Men’ homage, even though he had essentially given up his acting career.
However, if the third party gets its way, you shouldn’t hope too much for a restart: Charlie Sheen’s serial brother Jon Cryer has now clearly dismissed the possibility of a “TAAHM” revival.
The disappointment apparently still runs too deep
“I don’t know how this will come about,” Cryer said on the American TV program “The View”. The Alan actor expressed his sincere joy that Sheen was now doing much better and that he had reconciled with Lorre, who was deeply affected by the case at the time. Still, the 58-year-old doesn’t seem particularly keen on a new project with his former co-star, who he hasn’t spoken to in a few years. The events of that time were probably simply too drastic for that – even though Sheen was actually enjoying a new career highlight at the time: “Charlie was the highest paid TV actor – maybe ever. […] And yet he blew everything up,” Cryer said.
Although he loves Sheen and wishes him nothing but the best, Cryer said something sobering about this: “I don’t know if I’d ever want to work with him again.” But he left a small loophole open: “Maybe if it was one thing or just a quick ‘hello’…” Or if he was paid the same salary as Sheen, as one of the hosts suggested? “There we have it. “That sounds fair,” Cryer concluded rather jokingly in response to the idea.
So the chances are probably not good for a ‘Two And A Half Men’ revival with the three main actors from the first eight seasons. Jon Cryer is now also launching a new comedy series with ‘Extended Family’. However, it is not yet known when it will come to Germany.
