Actually, Kanye West – he’s been calling himself Ye for a number of years – can consider himself lucky that he still has something like a fan base. After anti-Semitic outbursts, several questionable Instagram posts and public appearances that can still be considered controversial, this is not a given.
As the saying goes: you have to separate art from the artist, right? That’s why we wanted to listen to his album, which was announced today, Friday morning, and we were disappointed to find that there was nothing to listen to.
Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s album ‘Vultures’ was originally set to be released this summer. Then it was announced in mid-December. Instead, at a listening party there was just a rant from Ye that was so off-base we don’t want to quote it here. In any case, he shot against his fellow rappers Drake and Jay-Z, against Adidas and – of course – against his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. And he also insulted the Jewish community.
You could pre-order the album on iTunes for a short time with the “expected release date” of December 31, 2023 before the option was removed again.
The video for the title song ‘Vultures’ has now appeared on YouTube and the single has been available on Spotify and Co. since November. And spoiler: In the song, Ye addresses, among other things, the criticism of anti-Semitism that he receives – and is extremely provocative: “How I am anti-Semitic, I just fucked a Jewish bitch.”
A spokesperson for the American Anti-Defamation League, which campaigns against anti-Semitism, made the statement to TMC. He called West an “unrepentant anti-Semite and clearly a misogynist.”
By the way: there was now another ‘Vultures Listening Experience’ in Chicago, which could be seen via livestream on yeezy.com, as Kanye announced on Twitter and Instagram.
