Mark Ruffalo honored with star on Walk of Fame

American actor Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Things”) fell to the ground during a storm of photographers’ flashes in Hollywood. The “Avengers” star celebrated the unveiling of his new star plaque on the Walk of Fame on Thursday (local time) and was photographed proudly lying next to it. The 56-year-old was honored with the 2,772nd star on the famous sidewalk.

Ruffalo said he came to Hollywood at age 18 to become an actor. He learned his craft here at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting for seven years. Ruffalo said of the difficult start to his career that he was quite poor and often wanted to give up. The actor encouraged young people to hold on to their dreams. Without the support of friends, family and colleagues, he would never have gotten this far, according to the visibly moved star.

Actress Laura Dern (56), who appeared with Ruffalo in the film drama ‘We Don’t Live Here Anymore’ (2004), was actually invited as a guest speaker. Dern had to cancel due to Covid illness and Jennifer Garner (51) replaced her. She joked about filming the romantic comedy “30 Overnight” (2004), in which Ruffalo once played her lover. With her speech she wanted to pay tribute to “Rom-Com-Ruffalo”. Everyone in Hollywood would love to work with him, Garner said.

Among the many guests were Marvel boss Kevin Feige, director David Fincher and actors Barry Keoghan and Lili Reinhart. Ruffalo also posed with his wife, actress Sunrise Coigney, 51, son Keen, 22, and daughter Bella, 18, in the newly unveiled plaque.

Ruffalo can currently be seen opposite Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe in Giorgos Lanthimos’ comedy “Poor Things.” He has been nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role as a smart lawyer. He is also known for films such as ‘Spotlight’, ‘The Kids Are All Right’ and as the green comic giant Hulk from the ‘Avengers’ films. (saw/sda/dpa)
