An important note about the campaign: MediaMarkt and Saturn give you VAT-free. But you don’t get a 19 percent discount, but “only” about 16 percent. There are mathematical reasons for this. If the discount on the gross price were 19 percent, the net price would be lower than without VAT.
An example: A soundbar costs 100 euros net. With 19 percent VAT, the gross price is 119 euros. A discount of 19 percent on 119 euros yields 25.61 euros. After deducting the discount (19 percent), the net price of the soundbar is 96.39 euros, which is 3.71 euros less than the original net price.
