It’s been less than a week since the first season finale of “Percy Jackson: The Series” was released on Disney+. In the eight episodes, Percy (played by Walker Scobell) managed to solve the great mystery of the Master Lightning, free his mother and get to know his father Poseidon. Then the teenager returned to his daily life. A well-rounded ending, if you will. But that is not enough:
It has now been officially announced that “Percy Jackson: The Series” will be expanded with a second season! That’s not surprising, since the novel series written by Rick Riordan, who is also executive producer and creator of the fantasy series, consists of six books so far. The first season was also based on the opening novel. So if you go by chronology, the upcoming season would be based on Part 2. This one is called ‘Under the Spell of the Cyclops’.
Here, Percy would join Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and his half-brother Tyson (Douglas Smith) in search of his friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri), who had been captured by the Cyclops Polyphen. The trio has to deal with many sea monsters in the Bermuda Triangle. But that is the beginning of all evil, as the mighty villain Kronos waits beneath the surface of the sea.
It remains to be seen whether the ‘Percy Jackson’ series will actually adopt the plot of ‘The Spell of the Cyclops’ in its second season. Walker Scobell is the opposite In any case, he already said that he was not entirely enthusiastic about it. Not because he doesn’t want to play Percy Jackson anymore, but because the many underwater shots would require a lot of effort.
