“Secrets of Scandal”, a Netflix film that could surprise at the 96th Academy Awards, has arrived in domestic cinemas, and was nominated in the “Best Original Screenplay” category.
The film by Todd Haynes, which premiered on 2020 Cannes Film Festival3, is based on a true story and stars Natalie Portman, Jualinne Moore and Charles Melton.
The film follows the actress Elizabeth Berry (Portman)which deals with the family dynamics of the marriage of Gracie Atherton-Yu (Moore) and Joe (Charles Melton), a media romance that scandalized the whole country.
Berry will play Gracie in the fiction, so she will spend time with family try to better understand his character, however, the family dynamics will unravel under public pressure.
Portman’s character begins to ask questions, as a “relationship” by Gracie and Joestarted when she was 36 and her husband was 13, a detail that was inspired by a real case.
“Secrets of Scandal” is based on story by Professor Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau, who came from a broken family, which played an important role, and was 12 years old.
