Taylor Sheridan, author of “Sicario” and creator of “Wind River,” is currently on a roll. A few years ago he started one of the biggest series phenomena of all time with the neo-Western series “Yellowstone” (where the article image above comes from) which is regularly expanded with new spin-offs. And if that weren’t enough, there are currently three other Sheridan series running completely outside the ‘Yellowstone’ cosmos: ‘Tulsa King’, ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ and ‘Mayor Of Kingstown’.
But that won’t stop the Oscar-nominated, prolific writer from tackling his next projects. And one thing has now taken a very decisive step forward: The first release was released for the thriller drama “Landman”.which Sheridan co-created with Christian Wallace, on whose podcast “Boomtown” the series is also based.
With Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton, Michelle Randolph and Sheridan regulars James Jordan There are three actors in front of the camera who have already played leading roles in the ‘Yellowstone’ universe. The main cast also includes Hollywood veteran Demi Moore and Ali Larter, known for ‘Final Destination’, the ‘Resident Evil’ films and the superhero series ‘Heroes’.
That’s what Landman is about
The premise of ‘Landman’ already exudes typical Sheridan vibes. Here, several people in the so-called boomtowns of West Texas seek their fortunes in the competitive oil sector, where the worlds of ordinary workers and flatulent billionaires collide. The ever-growing boom ultimately also has global consequences for the climate, the world economy and geopolitics.
Just like the other Sheridan productions “Landman” will also be shot exclusively for Paramount+. However, it is still unclear when the series will appear on the streaming service. “Yellowstone” is scheduled to continue in November 2024, but will then end after the impending departure of lead actor Kevin Costner – before a sequel series awaits us with “2024”.
