“Regular Show – Completely Crazy” is a series about the normal daily lives of Mordecai, a blue jay and Rigby the raccoon, who share an apartment together. But there are always plenty of problems, for example with their gumball machine boss Benson, for whom they work as a groundskeeper in a public park. Sounds crazy? It is. At its core, ‘Regular Show’ is a series about two hardcore slackers who would actually be preoccupied with daydreaming, but life keeps getting caught up in it.
In the US, “Regular Show” is an absolute cult. It is not without reason that the series lasted eight seasons and one film. In Germany, however, this entertainment gem was overlooked for a long time and managed to carve out a niche existence on Cable 1’s Saturday morning program – where it definitely had the wrong target group as an audience. Now the iconic and wonderfully sharp, short idiocies of Mordecai and Rigby have finally found a streaming home in Germany. You can stream the first three seasons of this crazy, sweet series on Netflix.
In “Regular Show”, Mark Hamill becomes a Yeti
‘Regular Show’ has less to do with the typical animated programs for an adult audience. Despite their crude humor, “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers” are essentially just modern takes on classic sitcoms that often follow familiar story patterns. In response to this, shows such as ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’, ‘Adventure Time’, ‘Rick & Morty’ or ‘Regular performance” being seen. These sometimes very anarchic and surreal shows care little about standard storytelling and unleash their audience on a sometimes completely absurd world that is explored in short (usually just over ten minutes) bites.
And so in “Regular Show” there are talking animals as well as animated bubble gum machines or balloons, extremely strong zombie people or an immortal yeti, which in the English version is set to music by none other than “Star Wars” legend Mark Hamill. If you find a bit of madness entertaining, you should definitely check this out. It is worth it ..
