If everything had gone according to plan, we wouldn’t have just seen “Avatar 3” a long time ago. Many people have probably already forgotten what exactly it was about – that’s how long ago it was originally scheduled for release in 2015. After finally seeing the first sequel to “Avatar – Departure for Pandora” a little over a year ago, we are now waiting for the sequel to “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water”. As things stand now, this should come around relatively quickly.
The official theatrical release of “Avatar 3” is currently December 17, 2025. Whether this can actually be complied with remains to be seen. In conversation with ‘Avatar’ and ‘Terminator’ mastermind and ‘Titanic’ creator James Cameron has now revealed that work on the highly anticipated blockbuster – as well as ‘Avatar 4’ – is in full swing.
‘Avatar 3’ is ‘as good as finished’
Part 3, whose final title is still a mystery, is “almost done,” says Cameron. You only film the last two to three percent of the gap fillers before shooting “a few percent of the live-action scenes” again in June. Post-production is only just starting then, but it has been going on for quite some time. Cameron needs ‘every second’ to finish it on time: ‘We’re already in post for part 3[-produktion]which is a huge job.” “Avatar 4” (theatrical release: December 19, 2029) is already a quarter of the way through.
Over and beyond says Cameron also about the special process of not realizing such gigantic projects one after the other, but sometimes working on them at the same time. Even though adjustments have been made or are being made over time, when it comes to technology, we are finally where we need to be to implement Cameron’s vision according to his ideas. Having these resources available is essential, but is now secondary:
“It’s not about the technology, it’s about the minds and eyes of the computer artists. It’s a very, very creative process – it’s art,” says Cameron, who emphasizes that it is one thing to develop the most modern technologies with his team in order to ultimately change cinema in a future-oriented manner. The other thing, though, is that it takes time to understand these tools and ultimately use them correctly. “Thousands of people are involved and conduct an orchestra to get it all right.”
“Avatar” bigger and better than ever
Also main character Sam Worthington By the way, recently presented exciting ‘Avatar’ future in prospect.
