The cast list for Deep Cover almost sounds like it was cast by a fantasy fan. The Amazon project brings together stars from some of today’s biggest franchises Sean Bean, who even has two such heavyweights on his resume: ‘Game Of Thrones’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. His “Lord of the Rings” co-star is also on board Orlando Bloom.
We also come from the “Game Of Thrones” universe. Paddy Considine And Sonoya Mizuno both can be seen in the first season of “House Of The Dragon”, which is currently broadcast on ProSieben. Considine plays the seriously ill King Viserys Targaryen in the spin-off ‘Game Of Thrones’, while Mizuno is there as Mysaria. Also on the cast list of “Deep Cover”: Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”, currently in theaters with “Argylle”), Ian McShane (“John Wick”) and Nick Mohammed (“Ted Lasso”).
That’s what ‘Deep Cover’ is about
Noisy “Deep Cover” is an action comedy that promises a breath of fresh air in this genre with an exciting premise: For undercover investigations, the police hires three improv actors who can perfectly say ‘yes’ to everything and being able to get involved in any new situation without breaking your own role. This talent eventually leads her deep into the London underworld.
It is not yet known which of the stars will take on the improv comedy and who will appear as a cop or a gangster. It is clear that the script for ‘Deep Cover’ was written with a lot of expertise, as the British improvisation duo Ben Ashenden and Alex Owen, who perform under the name ‘The Pin’, are involved. They wrote the script together with the writers of ‘Jurassic World’ Derek Connolly And Colin Trevorrow. The latter was also in the director’s chair of ‘Jurassic World’.
Filming in London
“Deep Cover” is directed by Tom Kingsley (“The Darkest Universe”, “This Is Going To Hurt”) and filming begins today in London. So the action comedy, depending on how complex the post-production is, perhaps as early as the end of 2024 Amazon Prime Video come, but no later than early 2025.
Tushar Jindal, Head of Content for Prime Video’s UK division, is confident the concept will delight audiences: “With an incredible cast, a world-class creative team and a fantastic script, we know this will be a hit.”
