Monday: Gripping psychological game
It starts Monday with the new addition of a German thriller that premiered on TV in 2020. In “In the shadow of fear” Director Till Endemann (“The Promise”) sees a psychiatrist (Julia Koschitz) interact with an architect (Justus von Dohnányi) on trial for kidnapping to assess his guilt. Slowly but surely, she suspects that the defendant could be a real serial killer who wants to strike again soon…
Tuesday: Take a deep breath
After this difficult start, you can treat yourself to a breather on Tuesday. Because there are no exciting new additions to Netflix today.
Wednesday: Crazy UFO cult
The documentary series “Raël: The Prophet of the Aliens” Calling it a cult is not because it is considered a cult today, but rather because it is an actual cult. Former French sports journalist Claude Vorilhon alias Raël founded his own religion called Raëlism in the 1970s after alleged encounters with aliens, around which he has continued to gather new followers ever since. David Nicholls became a bestseller in 2011 “Two in one day” filmed and released in theaters starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, where the film became a modern classic among romances. Now a series adaptation of the material is in the starting blocks, with 14 episodes on Netflix. Ambika Mod (“This Is Going To Hurt”) and Leo Woodall (“The White Lotus”) star as Morley and Dexter, who magically meet on July 15 every year for decades. The inevitable question arises as to whether there will ever be a July 16th for the two of them – and how their relationship will change over time.
Friday: True crime in online dating
In the documentation “Lover, stalker, murderer” is about recently divorced father Dave, who hoped for a new chance at true love through online dating. He met two women who, at first glance, seemed to be exactly what was right for him. But a complicated and murderous love triangle soon developed, putting not only Dave but those around him in grave danger. Director Sam Hobkinson (“City of Fear”) reconstructs the case based on interviews with those involved as well as responsible officials and prosecutors and paints a tense picture of Dave’s four-year horror story.
In addition, the second season of the Spanish comedy series ‘Machos Alfa’, the thriller series ‘A Killer Paradox’ from South Korea and the Turkish drama ‘Asche’ will be added to the streaming program on Netflix on Friday.
Saturday and Sunday: end of the week with science fiction action
Saturday brings you the latest addition to Netflix this week. This one comes with the sci-fi hit “Apple Seed: Alpha” by Shinji Aramaki, who is responsible for, among other things, the series ‘Blade Runner: Black Lotus’. In it, a young soldier and a cyborg must fight their way through a devastated New York after World War III when they meet two residents of the mysterious city of Olympus who could hold the key to humanity’s survival. The original film features the voices of Luci Christian (“Little Woods”), David Matranga (“Cruel Summer”), Brina Palencia (“The Walking Dead”) and Adam Gibbs (“Black Swan”).
