Horror sequel and Bruce Willis flop: These are the worst films with “Argylle” star Henry Cavill according to audiences

Since his first appearance as Superman in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” is Henry Cavill one of the most successful stars in Hollywood – both on the big screen and on the small screen. He became a Netflix star with the fantasy series “The Witcher” and the two “Enola Holmes” films, and the 40-year-old has appeared in box office hits such as “Mission: Impossible: Fallout.” On Thursday, the spy film ‘Argylle’ premiered in German cinemas, in which Cavill plays the title role alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell and pop star Dua Lipa, among others.

After making his acting debut in 2001, curiously enough, in a largely French-language thriller called ‘Laguna’ that was released exclusively in Italy, Cavill has mainly made his living with single episodes of TV series such as ‘Inspector Lynley’ and ‘Inspector Barnaby He finally played his first supporting roles in larger Hollywood productions in ‘Tristan and Isolde’ and ‘The Star Wanderer’ before his big TV breakthrough came thanks to the historical series ‘The Tudors’.

If you’re new to “The Tudors” and desperately need new binge-watch material, you can currently stream the series on the Amazon Prime Video channel AXN White – if you opt for the 7-day trial subscription (and be quick), even for free:

These 2 films with Henry Cavill are a complete failure with audiences

If you take a look at the American review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes, most of the films in which Cavill has appeared have been well received by the audience. But there are also works with the “Codename UNCLE” star that were less well received by viewers: the fantasy spectacle “War of the Gods” (2011) received only 49 percent of positive user reviews, while the almost forgotten horror thriller “Blood Creek ” (2009) by “Falling Down” director Joel Schumacher languishes at 30 percent.

But two other films are definitely at the bottom: on the one hand: “The cold light of day“, an action film starring Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver that completely failed at the box office in 2012 and only received approval from 29 percent of Rotten Tomatoes users (the critical rating is just 4 percent). FILMSTARTS author Björn Becher was more merciful than average at the time: in his review, he gave it a solid 3 out of 5 stars and praised the “fast-paced, exciting production” – so maybe “The Cold Light Of Day” is worth watching after 10 year value?

Meets even less enthusiasm”Hellraiser: Hellworld, the eighth installment of the legendary slasher franchise, which was released straight to DVD in 2005. Although Henry Cavill has a prominent supporting role, the film only won over 22 percent of “Hellraiser” fans — making it, at least according to Rotten Tomatoes, the worst film Cavill has ever appeared in.

Will the actor, rumored to be one of many James Bond contenders, be able to do better than that? Unlikely for now! His upcoming projects include two new films from Guy Ritchie and a new edition of the ’80s cult film ‘Highlander’, directed by ‘John Wick’ creator Chad Stahelski.
