Joel and Ethan Coen are among the greatest, most influential and most complex filmmakers in American cinema. Her resume to date includes many masterpieces: “Barton Fink”, “Miller’s Crossing”, “The Big Lebowski”, “Fargo” and “No Country For Old Men”. The last time the duo worked together was for the Netflix western “The Ballad Of Busters Scruggs”. Then they went their separate ways.
Ethan Coen and his wife and editor Tricia Cooke were recently guests in Norway, where they spoke with film critic Kaleem Aftab about their new film ‘Drive-Away Dolls’. In the course of this, the question was also raised whether Ethan and Joel Coen would work on a film together again in the future – and the answer should put a smile on the face of all movie fans.
Ethan & Joel Coen make a horror movie!
As Ethan Coen explained in the conversation, he and his brother have already written a script and want to perform it soon: “It’s a pure horror film and it gets very bloody. If you liked ‘Blood Simple,’ you’ll like the new movie.” () Tricia Cooke then added that the film will also be “terribly funny.” It remains to be seen when filming will begin and whether the horror film will really be the brothers’ next project.
In any case, filmmakers can be happy. Joel and Ethan Coen finally reunite to make a horror film. And then also in the style (perhaps the atmosphere or tonality is meant here) of “Blood Simple”? This can only be damn good! To shorten the waiting time, you can look forward to ‘Drive-Away Dolls’ on March 7, 2024, which was directed only by Joel Coen. If you haven’t heard of the work yet, here’s the trailer:
