According to the Sleep Foundation, tight underwear can even cause certain yeasts, such as the Candida species, to proliferate in a woman’s vaginal flora. Sleeping naked can eliminate this condition; However, the Sleep Foundation emphasizes that fungal infections can be affected by many factors.

Sleeping naked may also have positive psychological effects. A study published in the Journal of Happiness in 2018 says that getting used to your own nakedness increases your confidence in your own body. Relationships can also benefit from this. Direct skin-to-skin contact with your partner stimulates the release of the happiness hormone oxytocin, strengthening well-being and the mutual bond in the relationship. Sleep Foundation also sees positive effects: “Partners who engage in frequent skin-to-skin contact are often less stressed.”
