Statham, Stallone and the director of “The Beekeeper” join forces: Amazon secures the trio’s new action thriller

Last fall we first reported on “Levon’s Trade” – a new action thriller whose cast made people sit up and take notice, both in front of and behind the camera. Now, more than three months later, well-known factors such as Statham, Stallone and Ayer are joined by another, quite prominent factor: Amazon.

How exclusively reported, Amazon has now acquired the rights to “Levon’s trade“ secured and will bring the action thriller to U.S. theaters and internationally to Prime Video – most likely also in Germany (although there is currently no confirmation in which countries exactly the film will end up on the streaming platform). This stems from a lucrative deal between Amazon and MGM.

It is not yet known when exactly we can expect a release. Given the well-known cast, we are already quite curious what awaits us here – especially because the big names create an explosive mix, where almost everything from old-school action hits to outdated, clumsy genre cucumbers can be released. .

The duo ‘The Beekepeer’ meets the duo ‘Expendables’

Director of ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Street Kings’ David Ayer will take his place in the director’s chair and once again direct his ‘The Beekeeper’ star Jason Statham to the stage. And if he manages to do this in as fun a way as he did with his recent beekeeping thriller, we’re pretty sure that “Levon’s Trade” could also be an entertaining, straightforward fun without too many pretenses.

The script is based on a novel by Chuck Dixon and passed by Sylvester Stallone adapted for the screen (or screen). Stallone’s most recent collaboration with Statham – “The Expendables 4”, which fell far short of its potential from both a creative and economic perspective – doesn’t initially make it look too hopeful about the new team. However, you should not forget that Sly once celebrated his big breakthrough with ‘Rocky’, not only as an actor, but especially as an author. Over the years, he also repeatedly pressed the keys – including the script for “Homefront”, which was originally planned as a chapter in the “Rambo” series, in which who was starring again? That’s right: Jason Statham!

In “Levon’s Trade,” Statham takes on the role of main character Levon Cade, who gives up his former “job” to work in construction and live a simple life. But when one day his boss’s daughter disappears, he has no choice but to once again use the skills that once made him a feared man in the underworld…

By the way, if you can never have enough of these types of materials, you might be able to look forward to an entire “Levon” franchise soon. Because ‘Levon’s Trade’ covers only the first book about the hero of the same name – of which there are now a dozen…
