Swiss researchers also participate. “This is a very big project,” ETH Zurich’s Domenico Giardini, who is on the mission, told the Keystone-SDA news agency. “Three generations of researchers and engineers will participate.”
The goal of the Lisa mission is to measure gravitational waves in space without interference. A measurement system will be established using three satellites approximately 50 million kilometers away from Earth. Researchers hope to gain insight into dark matter. The satellites are planned to be launched in 2035.
More than 120 research institutions in the USA and various European countries are involved in “Lisa”. These include ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich.
