The new month brings a rich mix of genres for Amazon Prime Video subscribers. These include the series adaptation of “Mr and Mrs Smith” from the founding of the “Atlanta” team Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane, which delivers a new interpretation of the 2005 cult film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Donald Glover takes on the role of agent John Smith, while Maya Erskine (“Pen15”) is the embodiment of his wife and adversary Jane Smith. Choosing between work and love will leave you both in an unsolvable mess that you will have to deal with come February 2nd can look at.
Science fiction fans will already consider Christopher Nolan’s arrival a classic “Interstellar” on February 19 in the streaming program. Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway embark on an emotional and nerve-wracking mission into space to save the future of humanity. We don’t have Alex Garlands any less bad “Ex Machina” reviewed, which also received 4.5 stars in our FILMSTARTS review and makes a slightly different contribution to science fiction cinema. In it, a young web developer (Domnhall Gleeson) is confronted with a female robot (Alicia Vikander) and learns the boundaries between love and mistrust. You can find the film on Prime Video from February 4.
Action hits and series highlights
On February 13, the action genre will get a gigantic monster addition in the form of Peter Jackson “King Kong” (4 stars) and Jorden Vogt-Roberts’ “Kong: Skull Island” (3.5 stars), while also being superhero fans on February 5 with the 2017 DC entry “Justice League” (3 stars) will be happy. For horror fans, however, there is Steven Spielberg’s “The white shark” (4.5 stars) a true classic in the program, while “Divide” (4 stars), “Lamb” (3 stars) and “The nun” (2 stars) represent some newer representatives.
In terms of series, you can expect all seasons “Shameless” (as of February 25) and “The office” (from February 16) two real must-sees on Amazon Prime Video. However, the new in-house productions include the first season of the horror comedy “Animals like us”, in which humans and monsters coexist and often come into conflict. In the thriller series “The Red Queen” (as of February 29), a hyper-intelligent woman becomes part of a secret police project that becomes crucial to solving a kidnapping among Spain’s upper class.
