The first thing most people do when they wake up is go to the coffee machine. Because it’s hard to get going in the morning without a cup of stimulant. Drinking too much coffee leaves a black, sticky residue that most people throw away. But what most people don’t realize is that the so-called waste from ground coffee beans may not look appetizing, but it can be used in a variety of ways at home.

In the beauty industry, coffee grounds are used as peeling. It removes impurities from the skin and helps fight cellulite. For a gentler effect, you can rub coffee grounds neatly into your skin or mix it with honey or olive oil. If you add some sugar, the peeling effect will increase even more.

You can apply the peeling with circular movements and then wash it with warm water. Caffeine stimulates blood circulation and provides rosy skin. Coffee grounds also have a firming effect.

Although coffee itself has a very strong odor, it has a neutralizing effect on other odors. Coffee grounds, ground coffee or coffee beans are especially useful for removing bad odors in the refrigerator or trash can.

For example, to get rid of the onion smell, you can rub coffee grounds between your hands after you finish working in the kitchen.

Despite its dark color, coffee helps with cleaning: If there are stubborn dirt, the popular scrubbing set can be used as a natural scrubbing agent. Even a very dirty grill grate can be given a fresh shine again.

Coffee grounds can be especially useful for containers whose interior is difficult to reach with a cloth. Add a spoonful or two, pour warm water over it, let it act, then rinse.

Wasps can’t stand the smell of coffee. However, putting the mixture in a bowl and placing it on the terrace does not serve any purpose. A little more effort is required. Place the coffee beans in a fireproof bowl (for example, an ashtray) and then light it. After about five minutes, smoke forms and evaporates. For wasps, smoke means danger and they disappear.

If you add some coffee grounds to the potting soil, unwanted pests will be kept away. This can be used to repel snails, ants, voles or moles. The smell of coffee in the compost pile attracts worms, loosens the pile and helps rotting.

Coffee grounds can also be used as fertilizer in the garden. To do this, sprinkle the black residue from the filter over the plant soil. Shredded soil can also be added to compost, where it rots along with other green waste and becomes valuable fertilizer.

If you dissolve coffee residue in warm water, it will have a coloring effect. This is a natural way to make eggs or fabric colorful. Coffee grounds can also help with scratches in dark wood. To do this, moisten it and insert it into the joint with a cotton swab. The flour settles there and the coffee oil covers the scratches.
