A few weeks ago, a TV era came to an end: ProSieben abolished the Sunday blockbuster, an established name in the television landscape. Instead of evening movies, the weekend should now end with travel entertainment formats. That went terribly wrong: due to poor viewing figures, the broadcast of “Local Hero” and “Fahri sucht das Glück” was stopped after just one Sunday. Instead, there is now American football in the primetime slot.
Still, movie buffs can still enjoy big ProSieben blockbusters on weekends, just not on Sundays. You may have noticed that ProSieben now always has big movies on Fridays. Last Friday at 8:15 PM, “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” which was guaranteed to be on the Sunday before, was shown immediately followed by “John Wick 3.” And on October 21, 2022, you can look forward to “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”.
Sunday’s feature films have moved
And even Sunday is not lost for movie buffs. Because many films that were previously shown on ProSieben have now simply been moved to the sister station Sat.1. There’s sci-fi action with “Independence Day” and “Prometheus – Dark Signs” on Sunday, October 23 from 8:15 PM.
Incidentally, ProSieben’s contract with the National Football League (NFL) will continue until the next Super Bowl on February 12, 2023. The next football season will then be broadcast on RTL. The weekend program could be mixed up again next spring. Either ProSieben will try again with its own entertainment formats, or the Sunday blockbuster could be celebrating its comeback.
By the way, other stations also have nice videos, it doesn’t just have to be the ProSiebenSat.1 Group: This Friday, for example, the horror insider tip “The Invitation” is celebrating its free TV premiere at 10:35 p.m. on 3sat. Or check out our recommendation for this excellent time travel thriller:
