Netflix confirms the sequel to its biggest series hit for 2024: After 3 (!) years it is finally happening!

This year, Netflix gives us, among other things, the science fiction film “Spaceman: A Short History of Bohemian Space Travel” (streaming from March 1) with Adam Sandler and the fantasy adventure “Damsel” (March 8) with “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown. And in terms of the series? The streaming giant also has a few tricks up its sleeve:

As is now known, Netflix will continue some of its biggest series hits in 2024 – including its most watched exclusive format to date, for the continuation that we have now been waiting for over three years (!)…

Season 2 of “Squid Game” is coming in 2024

With “Squid Game,” Hwang Dong-hyuk achieved the impossible. The thriller series about a competition in which hundreds of participants compete not only for huge prize money, but ultimately for their lives, grew into a global phenomenon in 2021 – even overshadowing major Hollywood productions. Season 1 was watched a total of 1.65 billion hours on 111 million accounts in the first 28 days after launch.

The streaming provider with the red ‘N’ now publishes the figures after 91 days, but the South Korean megahit still leads this ranking to this day – and is therefore valid for “Stranger things“, “Wednesday” and co. as the most watched Netflix series of all time.

A reality TV offshoot of the format followed last year with “Squid Game: The Challenge,” which, however, only kept up to a limited extent with the original – and also led to complaints from numerous candidates. With the sequel to the original, in which Lee Byung-hun and Wi Ha-joon return, the next chapter of this extraordinary success story is now opened. It is not yet known when exactly the second season of ‘Squid Game’ will come to Netflix.

“Bridgerton” Season 3 and more

It is already known that the celebrated historical hit “Bridgerton“ also returns this year – in two parts. The first wave of the third season, which contains a total of eight episodes, will arrive on Netflix on May 16, with the second half available to stream on June 13.

Also with “Diplomatic relations” And “The Empress“It must continue this year. Both the drama about a high-ranking American ambassador (Keri Russell) and the retelling of the story of Austrian Empress Sisi (played here by Devrim Lingnau), which is deeply entrenched in pop culture, will enter their second seasons later this year.
