The film “Bisons” by Pierre Monnard (“Platzspitzbaby”) has been nominated six times for the Swiss Film Prize. The Federal Office for Culture announced this on Tuesday evening during the ‘Night of Nominations’ during the 59th Solothurn Film Days.
The Freiburg director’s feature film can hope for a Quartz in the Best Feature Film categories, twice in the categories Best Actor, Best Film Music, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. The film tells the story of a farmer’s son who tries to save his parents’ farm through illegal fights.
With four nominations, two films have a chance of winning the Quartze. “Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” by Elene Naveriani is nominated for Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Sound.
‘La voie royale’ by Valais director Frédéric Mermoud can hope for a win for Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Role and Best Editing.
The Swiss Film Prize ceremony will take place on March 22 in Zurich. (dabbing/sda)
