Henry Cavill slipped into the costume of the most famous superhero for eight years, embodying Superman in “Man Of Steel”, “Batman vs Superman”, “Justice League” and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”. In James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy”, Cavill is now replaced by David Corenswet (“Pearl”), who will kick off the new DC Universe (DCU) and take over the legacy.
While we may have to wait a while until we see Corenswet in the Superman suit for the first time, The actor will don a brand new costume – because Corenswet had some problems with Henry Cavill’s costume…
Director James Gunn explained that David Corenswet, like all other candidates for the role of the new Superman, had to don Henry Cavill’s costume during an initial camera test. With the Corens Act the suit almost burst at the seams, but not because of that significant muscle mass of the actor, but because of his size: “Yes, everyone who took part in the camera test was tested in the old costume (although David could barely fit in it because he is so tall!).”
David Corenswet is even eight centimeters taller than Henry Cavill and therefore literally had to squeeze into the old Superman costume. However, this should be replaced and redesigned for “Superman: Legacy” anyway. Industry insider Dan Marcus explained this , that the new costume is “not as expected” and should come as a real surprise to fans of the man in blue and red. However, there is no official information about this yet.
We’re curious to see which character David Corenswet will ultimately create in the new Superman costume. The actor will star alongside Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion (“The Rookie”) as Guy Gardener and Green Lantern, Skyler Gisondo (“Booksmart”) as Jimmy, Olsen, among others and Nicolas Hoult (“The Menu”) will star as Lex Luthor.
Production of the action hit will start this spring. On July 10, 2025, “Superman: Legacy” will finally hit German cinemas.
