Jason Momoa got his start in television (from ‘Baywatch’ to ‘Stargate: Atlantis’ to ‘Game Of Thrones’) before finally finding box office success in the 2010s – initially in B-movie entries like ‘Conan’ and ‘ Shootout – No Mercy”, later as a DC hero in “Batman V Superman”, “Justice League” and “Aquaman”.
With ‘Braven’, Momoa returned to B-movie hits after his big breakthrough. Although the film was released for home theater in 2018 in the wake of ‘Aquaman’, it obviously didn’t receive nearly the same attention as the most successful DC film of all time.

The plot of “Braven”
The main character Joe Braven, played by Momoa, retreats to a remote wooden cabin with her father Linden (Stephen Lang). Joe wants to talk quietly with his demented father about how it would be better for him to live in a house from now on.
But the night before, drug smuggler Weston (Brendan Fletcher) and his unscrupulous boss Kassen (Garret Dillahunt) left a bag full of heroin in the apparently abandoned cabin and now want it back at any price. They soon realize that the tough woodcutter and his old man are not easy victims…
If you’re looking for solid action craftsmanship with quickly edited chase scenes and some neatly choreographed, bloody, up-close combat scenes, you can definitely check out “Braven.”although our FILMSTARTS review (2.5 out of 5 stars) is quite mixed overall.
