Action epic just a few weeks after theatrical release on Netflix: “The most brutal film of the year”

The director has already proven that Prashanth Neel can do action cinema with his two-part films “KGF: Chapter 1” and “KGF: Chapter 2”. But with ‘Salaar – Part 1: Ceasefire’, the start of a new two-part film, he goes one step further. It was a big hit at the box office. In its native India, the action thriller grossed three times its budget became one of the most successful films of all time there. Criticism was also mostly very positive, with the “brilliantly choreographed action scenes” highlighted several times. The Hollywood Industry Magazine celebrates “some of the most thrilling and cathartic depictions of violence that Indian cinema has to offer.” In the largest English newspaper in India, the ‘Salaar’ even received the title ‘the most brutal film of the year’.

Just a few weeks after its theatrical release in Germany on December 22, you can now stream “Salaar – Part 1: Ceasefire” in different language versions on Netflix. There are four entries for the film. Selects the one that has no additional language in the title. It is the original Telugu language version.

Unfortunately, subtitles are only available in English, so that’s why Only with a little trick can ‘Salaar’ even be found on Netflix. Netflix hides many titles that don’t have a German soundtrack or German subtitles for you. If the profile is set to German they won’t even show up even though they do exist. That’s why you have to set the profile language to English – and suddenly you have hundreds of films and series from all over the world (for example, the sitcom gem “Kim’s Convenience”, which I have already warmly recommended to you elsewhere, where I also explain the trick more detail).

This is “Salaar – Part 1: Armistice

But now back to the plot of “Salaar – Part 1: Armistice”. The English slogan sounds wonderfully crazy: “The most violent man… One man named… The most violent!”

The lead role is played by Indian superstar Prabhas, best known for ‘RRR’ director SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ epics. He plays Deva, who comes to the rescue of his old friend Varadha (Prithviraj Sukumaran). Because he is the crown prince of the (fictional) city-state of Khansaar. But Varadha’s father is about to be overthrown in a coup by the elite and his relatives. Deva is tasked with putting down the rebellion and ensuring that Varadha becomes the ruler of Khansaar. But as befits a 175 (!) minute action epic, which is also followed by an equally long second part, there are still some twists and turns (and also some jumps through time).
