Which new “Game Of Thrones” series are you most excited about? The planned sequel about Jon Snow (Kit Harington)? The spin-off about Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), also known as The Sea Serpent? There are a lot of new ‘GoT’ projects in the works, but most of them will have a long wait for them, if they happen at all. Besides “House Of The Dragon”, the only thing currently in the works is “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”. And here too the motto now is: wait longer.
Production on the first season of the live-action series, based on the novellas ‘Dunk & Egg’ by George RR Martin, is expected to begin in spring 2024. But like the fan page noticed with eagle eyes, is at a business site for Hollywood productions, now lists summer 2024 as the start of production for “The Hedge Knight.”
When does A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight start?
But what does that mean for the start date of the new ‘Game Of Thrones’ series? Until now we have assumed a start in 2025. ‘The Hedge Knight’ should therefore fill the gap between the second (2024) and third (2026) season of ‘House Of The Dragon’.
Even though ‘The Hedge Knight’ might not start until a few months later, a 2025 release is still entirely possible. In contrast to “Game Of Thrones” and “House Of The Dragon”, this spin-off requires considerably less production effort, so the work should not take as long.
For starters, according to George RR Martin, the first season will most likely pass only six episodes. But that alone would not be an argument, after all, the eighth and final season of ‘Game Of Thrones’ only had six episodes. But it is already known that “The Hedge Knight” (the exact title of the series has not yet been determined) is one smaller story with less special effects, people and location changes will tell. So no dragons, no big battles.

“The Hedge Knight” is about the titular character Hedge Knight of Westeros, Ser Duncan the Great, and his squire Aegon, named Egg. It is not yet known who will play the two main characters. The casting call, which launched in fall 2023, gives us an idea of what look we’re looking for for the two characters.
There are currently three seasons planned for “A Knight Of The Seven Kingsdoms: The Hedge Knight”. Each is intended to cover one of Martin’s three “Dunk & Egg” novellas, which were published in Germany, among other places, in the anthology “The Hedge Knight of Westeros: The Judgment of the Seven”.
