New on Netflix: Fast-paced mixed martial arts action with Marvel power

Octavio Bergmann (Emilio Sakraya) should actually enter the ring for a fight that is vital to the survival of his gym. But it’s his daughter’s birthday and his ex has a threat in store. If he doesn’t show up within an hour, he loses custody. So Octavio quickly decides to leave the fight and makes his way from Wedding to Neukölln. This should actually be doable – even with picking up the birthday cake and gift. But Octavio’s best friend and business partner Paul (Dennis Mojen) has become involved with gangsters who have bet big money on the fight. And they are really angry now and are after the mixed martial arts fighter.

In “60 Minutes” Emilio Sakraya has to constantly make his way through Berlin (but most of the filming was done in Hungary) – and he does it very well. The star of ‘Rheingold’ and the Netflix series ‘Tribes Of Europa’, who has ample fighting experience himself, may in the action scenes with many long takes. The fact that the fights look really good and are successful also has to do with a German acting discovery who is no stranger to Hollywood.

This is the discovery of “60 Minutes” Marie Mouroum

The name Marie Mouroum has been known in the stunt community for some time. She has been involved in many major projects for over ten years. Initially, there were mainly those that were also made in Germany – such as the fifth season of “Homeland” or “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”. At the latest with the Marvel spectacle ‘Captain America: Civil War’, which was also partly shot in this country, she finally had her foot in the door with Hollywood. Not only was she involved in other Marvel hits like ‘Black Panther’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’, but she also doubled for the new 007 Lashana Lynch in ‘James Bond – No Time to Die’.

’60 Minutes’ is now the first real acting role in a major film for Marie Mouroum. As Octavio’s trainer, she always comes to her protégé’s aid and adds an extra touch to the action scenes.

The action in ’60 Minutes’ is so successful because it has an impact

The FILMSTARTS review gives it an above average 3 out of 5 stars. Our author Lutz Granert arrives Conclusion: “The martial arts action is absolutely impressive in terms of craftsmanship,” but does not criticize his own ideas enough. That didn’t bother the author of these lines at all. Yes, you’ve seen a lot of “60 Minutes” elsewhere and sometimes even better, but ultimately the action is exciting, well staged and the events are exciting and entertaining.

Above all, those responsible do one thing well, which even (or even in particular) causes many major Hollywood productions to fail. Director Oliver Kienle and his team repeatedly show the painful impact of the action, do not cut away in advance, but let people experience how people hit the ground (or sometimes on a staircase). Worth seeing!
