Today, January 19, 2024, from 11 p.m. ZDF will show the animated film ‘ZDF Magazin Royale’ instead of a regular editionThe Basic Law of Animals“. You can also stream it in the channel’s media library from 8 p.m. Based on an idea by Jan Böhmermann and Miguel Robitzky, this article tells how the Basic Law actually came into being.
Until now we only knew that the 61 fathers and four mothers of the Basic Law met as the so-called Parliamentary Council at the Koenig Natural History Museum in Bonn to draft a constitution for the new Federal Republic. What we didn’t realize was that among all the indoor, mounted exhibits, there were four live animals. They hid here from the war. And When the animals notice what humans are doing, they take up the pen to incorporate a few important ideas into the Basic Law.
Star cast around Bastian Pastewka
The team’s first animated film “ZDF Magazin Royale” features an extremely prominent cast in the speaking roles. Led by “LOL” fan favorite Bastian Pastewka, we hear Olli Dittrich, Uschi Glas and Frank Elstner and of course the “ZDF Magazin Royale” crew around comedians El Hotzo, Caro Worbs, Miguel Robitzky And Jan Böhmermann. And if we are not mistaken, Mechthild Großmann, the narrator and federal eagle, can be heard from the Münster “Tatort” in the trailer above.
Studio Soi is responsible for the animation. The German animation company was involved in, among other things, the Oscar-nominated children’s film classic “The Gruffalo”, which was also created as a German-British co-production for ZDF. Most recently they supplied the animations for the new series ‘New Stories from Pumuckl’, which successfully premiered on RTL+ at the end of 2023 and the first three episodes of which were also very well received in cinemas.
If you miss the premiere on ZDF, you won’t be able to watch the show alone can be found at any time in the media library. In addition, several repeats are already planned – on January 21 at 9:35 PM, on January 22 at 11:55 PM and on January 25 at 11:00 PM and then again on February 11 at 9:35 PM and on February 12 at 11:50 PM – both on ZDFneo.
