Anyone who wants to start the year with entertaining action currently has the opportunity to do so in the cinema – for example with a “honey-sweet violent fun” with Jason Statham (“The Beekeeper”) or with Kaley Cuoco as a hitman (“Roleplay”) . The former is sure to be a treat for Statham fans, while the latter might be worth a look for fans of the Big Bang Theory. However, the 2024 campaign year has not yet produced an absolute must-see – at least not in the cinema.
With streaming, however, things look a little different: Of “Jigarthanda DoubleXA brand new action blockbuster from India is now available exclusively Netflix available! A news story that would probably have caused relatively little stir in this country a few years ago, but is likely to generate much more interest today. The epic tells the story of an undercover cop and a gangster who want to make a film together. There are SJ Suryah (“Don”) as a police officer/filmmaker and Lawrence Raghavendra, known from the series “Kanchana”, as a criminal with a great love for Clint Eastwood and his films.
And it’s precisely this preference that seems to not only shape his character but also lurks within ‘Jigarthanda DoubleX’ creator Subbaraj, so it might be especially worthwhile to give the three-hour film a chance if you are also passionate about the western legend. In any case, there should be no shortage of cross-references to his work…
