‘More Horror’ and ‘More Action’: ‘Wednesday’ Star Jenna Ortega Makes You Want to Watch Season 2 of the Netflix Series

In the fall of 2022, “Wednesday” became the most streamed English-language series format on Netflix in just a few weeks, even overtaking “Stranger Things.” So it is no wonder that the second season of the mega hit is now eagerly awaited. However, due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, filming recently had to be postponed and will now begin in spring 2024. The title character, Jenna Ortega, has even quit her role in ‘Scream 7’ and is clearly setting her priorities for the Netflix series, on which she is now even an executive producer.

‘Wednesday’ fans can look forward to the new episodes, as Ortega has now revealed a few details from the script for the second season that clearly leave you wanting more. So the sequel should be a bit to the point – and above all should satisfy action and horror fans.

New ‘Wednesday’ Episodes Feel Like ‘A Movie’

As Jenna Ortega in an interview with explained on the red carpet of the Emmy Awards that she had already read the scripts for the second season: “We are definitely going to bring some more horror. It’s really exciting because even though Wednesday goes through some kind of character development, she doesn’t change much over the course of the series and that’s the great thing about her.”

Ortega further revealed that season 2 of “Wednesday” will be even bigger than the first season: “There are some really good one-liners and I think everything is even bigger than before. There’s a lot more action. Each episode feels more like a movie, which is great.

Ortega explained in advance that we would also say goodbye to the romantic aspect of her character in the coming episodes. So she spoke inside Actors-on-Actors series with Elle Fanning about how she advocated for Wednesday to not have a love interest anymore, unlike in the first season, because it didn’t make sense for the character from her point of view.

Production of the new season is expected to begin in Ireland in April. It is not yet clear when we can expect the “Wednesday” addition to Netflix. However, because the first season was presented to us on the streaming service shortly after Halloween on November 16, 2022, a similar release period for the new episodes is conceivable.
