The Jazz Festival opened its twenty-first edition

The Danilo Pérez Foundation has officially opened its twenty-first installment Panama Jazz Festivala cultural project that through creativityhe exchange of knowledgetalent, inspiration and our historical memory, has become a world reference.

The Jazz Festival, this year dedicated to Billy Cobham, is a platform for creation cultural exchangesocial and educational where people from different countries meet to exchange ideas and high quality interdisciplinary projects.

This January 15 traditionally press conferencewhere there are representatives of institutions, businessmen, local and foreign artists, students, music enthusiasts and to the media knowing event details.

The program of activitiesfrom January 15 to 20, includes more than 100 activities for all ages, free concerts at 1:00 pm in La Plaza de City of knowledgenight concerts in Ateneo Theatera big Gala evening at the Anayansi Theater in Atlapa, Jam Sessions at Villa Agustina and a big final concert in the Central Quadrangle of the City of Knowledge, free of charge.

The celebration brings together great representatives and creators of all time, as well as new talents: Billy Cobham for the first time with Danilo Perez and Alex BlakeRon Savage Trio with special invitation from Bill Pierce, Global Jazz Womxn, led Patricia Zarate Pérez together with the Panamanian group Aphrodisiac; Calixto Oviedo & Afro Cuban Jazz with musicians from the Danilo Pérez Foundation; Tanmy López & Son del Canal; Orion Lion & Afro Ritual; Daughters of jazz, together with Solinka; Berklee Global Jazz Institute and New England Conservatory, among others. A list of luxurious guests, domestic and international, who will captivate the public with their talent.

“Our country is a melting pot of cultures and we inherited the tradition and art from around the world, including jazz. Panama was the cradle of the great jazz artists such as Luis Russell, Billy Cobham, Sonny White, Enid Lowe, Bárbara Wilson and Víctor Boa among many others.

The fact that so many Panamanians are part of it history It is significant because it helps us better understand part of our past, who we are, where we come from and, potentially, where we are going. In addition, it must raise awareness for conversion Panama in The Latin American capital of jazz.

Thanks to the festival, we learned that music can be useful health, which unites and humanizes us.
