This science fiction thriller stars Martin Scorsese (!) and Ray Liotta: that’s why you’ve probably never heard of the film

The final scene of ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ surprised many viewers: in the final minutes, the epic gangster film switches from its historical setting to a theater stage where a live podcast about the Osage murders in Oklahoma in the 1920s is recorded. . At the very end, an older man steps in front of the microphone to inform the audience in the audience (and us) about the further fate of the characters – and film fans will of course immediately recognize who it is: it is none other than Martin Scorsese, i.e. himself the director of ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’, addressing the audience.

The legendary filmmaker also appeared in front of the camera in previous directorial works – including ‘Taxi Driver’ (1976), ‘Ranging Bull’ (1981) and ‘Gangs Of New York’ (2002), but these were mostly just films. performances that last only a few seconds. The 81-year-old also appeared in small roles in several works by filmmaker friends, including “Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams” (1990) and Robert Redford’s “Quiz Show” (1994).

However, a real curiosity is “Campus code“: The science fiction thriller, titled Campus Life, was originally developed as original content for a website called JumpView. There, viewers have the opportunity to switch between perspectives as they see fit while watching a film, allowing them to view the same story from different angles. Later, the collected material from ‘Campus Life’ was edited into a conventional film, which was released straight to DVD in at least three countries (Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland), but received virtually no attention.

The film is about strange events that take place on a campus. For example, student Becca observes how her classmate Ari survives a fall from a huge height unscathed. Together with their fellow students Arun and Izzy, they fathom the mystery, the origins of which may be out of this world…

“Campus Code” is a rather confusing, cheaply produced film with amateurish special effects, but that’s exactly why it’s brilliantly entertaining – and has a twist that has to be seen to be believed. And there’s another reason to watch the movie: In addition to a cast of relatively unknown young actors, Martin Scorsese actually appears as a doctor in one scene – and Ray Liotta, who died in 2022 and led the ensemble of Scorsese’s mafia masterpiece “GoodFellas” (1990) alongside Robert De Niro, is also there in a smaller supporting role!

Here you can see a photo of Martin Scorsese’s performance:

That’s why Martin Scorsese and Ray Liotta were in “Campus Code.”

The reason why a rather marginal film like ‘Campus Code’ received such prominent support: Next Kenneth M. Waddellone of the founders of JumpView, took over Cathy Scorsese the director – Martin Scorsese’s eldest daughterwho did not miss the opportunity to let her contacts play for it.

That didn’t help much: to this day, almost no one has noticed the film’s existence and the experimental video platform JumpView has also not yet been able to establish itself. Additionally, Cathy Scorsese and the two founders of JumpView sued each other for breach of contract and defamation after the film’s release, although both lawsuits were dismissed.
