Just a few days ago we received the news that the ‘NCIS’ franchise would be getting a new spin-off after its numerous offshoots in cities like Sydney, Hawaii, New Orleans and LA – in the form of a prequel series. This will tell the backstory of none other than former ‘NCIS’ figurehead Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who fans and laymen alike were the first to associate with the cult series before he provisionally left the series universe in 2021.
“NCIS: Origins” will show Gibbs’ beginnings as a special agent at the fledgling NCIS office Camp Pendleton in 1991, led by NCIS veteran Mike Frank. In addition to Gibbs and Frank, there will be another reunion with a well-known figure. How It was exclusively reported that Special Agent Vera Strickland will also return as a younger version of herself in ‘NCIS: Origins’.
Agent Vera Stickland returns for ‘NCIS: Origins’.
The special agent made her NCIS debut in the 2013 Season 11 episode “Under the Radar,” in which she was played by “Nip/Tuck” actress Roma Maffia. The episode marked the character’s only appearance in the series to date, in which it was made clear that Strickland was once in a relationship with Mike Frank. In “Origins” the character is now explored in more detail.
While Mark Harmon, who played Leroy Lethro Gibbs for 19 seasons, will only be involved as an executive producer and narrator on “NCIS: Origins,” Gibbs will be played by a younger actor in the prequel, based on his age. Harmon’s son Sean Harmon, who took on the role in numerous flashbacks in the original series, will likely not do so in the new series, but will also be involved as a producer.
However, it is not yet known who will take on the roles of Gibbs, Frank and Strickland. We’ll also have to wait a while until we see ‘NCIS: Origins’ in this country. Further information about the start of production of the series, let alone its premiere, is not yet known. ‘NCIS’ fans can currently look forward to the spinoff’NCIS: Sydney” which will celebrate its German premiere on Paramount+ on January 18, 2024.
