“Narcos” actor Adan Canto dies at age 42

Hollywood mourns Adan Canto. The Mexican-born actor died on January 8 at the age of 42 from complications due to cancer. His agent Jennifer Allen confirmed this to the American trade magazine ‘The Hollywood Reporter’. Adan Canto had not previously made public his diagnosis or his battle with the disease.

He is survived by his wife Stephanie Ann Canto “as well as his two greatest works of art, three-year-old Roman Alder and Eve Josephine, one and a half years old. He will be greatly missed by many,” the statement said.

Adan Canto stood in front of the camera at the age of nine and made his acting debut in the Mexican drama ‘Bittersweet Chocolate’. He celebrated his breakthrough in Hollywood in 2013 together with Kevin Bacon in the thriller series ‘The Following’. He later played politician Rodrigo Lara Bonia in the first season of the Netflix hit ‘Narcos’.

Adan Canto has appeared on the big screen in films such as ‘Agent Game’, ‘Bruised’ and ‘X-Men: Future is Past’. He achieved greatest fame through the role of White House Chief of Staff and later Vice President Aaron Shore, which he played from 2016 to 2019 in three seasons of the series ‘Designated Survivor’. Their protagonist, Kiefer Sutherland, mourns his colleague on Instagram.

“I am heartbroken over the loss of Adan Canto. He was such a wonderful soul. His drive to be good, to be great and then to become even better as an actor was truly impressive and we will miss him dearly. The suffering of his wife Steph and his two small children breaks my heart. Adan, may you rest in peace,” the Hollywood star wrote.
