Whether summer or winter, hiking is always possible. Snowshoeing attracts a little less attention than the classics of skiing and snowboarding, but it is at least as beautiful. Advantage: You need almost no practice and no expensive equipment.

You can enjoy the winter view while snowshoeing on trails of different difficulty levels. These are the Blick community’s favorite walks from the past year.

Schwegealp AR to Kronberg AI

The marked panoramic snowshoe hike from Schwegegalp to the Kronberg panoramic mountain takes approximately 2.5 hours. The road leads through snow-covered meadows to Chammhaldenhütte, a hut belonging to the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). We continue through the forest and steppe. If you feel hungry at the end of your snowshoe walk, you can take a break at the Kronberg mountain restaurant.

Beatenberg BE to Habkern BE

Snow-covered forests and views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau: this is what awaits you on this snowshoe hike. The route starts from Postbus stop Beatenberg, Waldegg. From here begins an easy climb along the edge of the forest and through old chalets. The road, which offers stunning views of Lake Thun, is signposted and well prepared.

Hungerberg Road in Obergoms VS

If you love to enjoy the sun, this snowshoe hike is the right choice. Because the road to Hungerberg leads you to one of Obergoms’ most popular sun terraces. You can take the train to Oberwald from Brig, where the road starts.

Rothwald VS to Wasenalp VS

This snowshoe trail is family friendly. You start from the Rothwald valley station and follow the purple wooden posts that mark the path. The road leads up to Rothwald. From there you descend to the Durstbach Gorge, where, along the well-groomed slope, you reach the Wasenalp mountain restaurant and from there return to the starting point.

From Brambrüesch GR via the plateau of Dreiburkenstein GR

From Brambrüesch the route passes through forests and fields with mountain and valley views. The highest point of the hike is Furggabüel, where you have a great view in every direction. You can also use the chairlift for the last part of the climb. The descent stretches through forests and Alpine settlements to Mutta. From here you can take the chairlift to Feldis.

At Tenner Chrüz in Front Safiental GR

Snowshoeing starts at Tenna in the Safiental in Graubeğen. From here you can take a walk towards the village church. We continue until Tenner Chrüz. This is the highest point of snowshoeing. The world’s first solar-powered chairlift is located here. Since part of the snowshoe route is close to the forest border, you should be considerate of the animals.

Lötschenpass Road VS

This high mountain and challenging snowshoe tour can only be done when weather conditions are good. From Wiler VS you can take the Lauchernalp cable car to reach Hockenhorngrat, 3,100 meters above sea level. From the mountain station you can walk towards Lötschenpass. There you can strengthen yourself at the Lötscheinpass hut on the way back. After the break, you return to Hockenhorngrat. Last landing is at 15.50.
