While ‘Thor 5’ is now in the planning stages, Waititi is turning his back on the famed god of thunder for the time being and devoting himself to other projects that will fill his schedule in abundance for years to come.
One of these projects is ‘Klara and the Sun’, based on the 2021 best-selling science fiction novel of the same name by Kazuo Ishiguro and, according to Waititi, the next item on his to-do list. Ortega has a no less busy schedule than Waititi, who is currently in theaters with the sports comedy ‘Next Goal Wins’ and, in addition to an adaptation of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s ‘The Incal’, also has a ‘Star Wars’ project on the horizon.
‘Klara and the Sun’ tells the story of the solar-powered artificial intelligence Klara, who befriends the seriously ill 14-year-old Josie. The script for the film adaptation was written by Canadian Dahvi Waller, best known for her work in the hit series ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Mrs. Americana’.
