Karin Risi built herself a tiny house in the hills of Costa Rica.

It takes courage to settle in another country and build a new existence, whether in the Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Costa Rica or simply neighboring Germany. These Swiss people stepped up and started a new life abroad. In 2023, they told Blick about their life and experiences in their new home.

Swiss farmer’s daughter built a mini house in Costa Rica

Karin Risi traveled to Costa Rica for the first time in 2019 and fell in love with this country. The plan to emigrate became increasingly concrete. The farmer’s daughter from Galgenen SZ moved her horse to Costa Rica, where she bought a piece of land in the rugged terrain and built a mini house with a horse barn.

To South Africa for love
