American journalist in Zurich: ‘I ate in the most expensive McDonald’s in the world’

“McDonald’s is never my first choice when traveling through Europe,” writes American journalist Morgan McFall-Johnsen of “Business Insider”.

But the fact that the fast food chain offers the most expensive burgers in this country (according to The Economist’s Big Mac index) attracted them to a branch in Zurich.

She ordered three burgers, fries and three dips for 27.60 francs. The Big Mac disappointed her. In terms of taste, she noticed no difference with the American Big Mac. ‘It had exactly the same stuff in it. The only difference seems to be the price,” says the science journalist, who admits that she has only eaten a Big Mac once. “Still, I expected more.”

The burger was not worth the $8 she paid for it.

She liked the Big Bang Chicken better, for which she paid slightly less: $7.30. You can’t order it in the US. Therefore, she cannot make a comparison here. Her conclusion: “It was a nice change from other fast food chicken burgers I’ve eaten.”

The $10 Big Tasty burger – with Emmentaler cheese – convinced her. Her most expensive order of all things. “I would order it again,” says McFall-Johnsen.

The burger recipe is identical worldwide, Jae Ah Kim, head of corporate communications at McDonald’s Switzerland, told ’20 Minutes’.
