According to WWF, the winners in this country included tree frogs and red deer. The tree frog, which was threatened with extinction in 2005, is now considered “only” an endangered species. The number of red deer in Switzerland, which became extinct in 1850, is now around 40,000 again. When they reintroduce the wolf, they will also have a natural enemy that will regulate the population and thus the health of the forests. Planned wolf attacks are now endangering this again, according to the environmental foundation.
As the WWF explained, the Roi du Doubs were among the losers in this country. “The fish, approximately 20 centimeters long, is rare,” the statement said. “Only one female was found in Switzerland during this year’s population check.” The smooth snake is also under serious threat.
