If someone asked you how many times Home Alone was continued, what would you say? Of course, every film buff knows that Macaulay Culkin slipped back into his starring role for “Kevin – Alone in New York” two years after the surprising success of the first film – but the four (!) further “Home Alone” films, which will be released in 2021 , have not yet become long-term holiday favorites. This was likely not only because star Culkin was no longer on board, but also because of the steadily declining quality of the sequels. But at least the third part, which was released in cinemas in this country under the title “Home Alone Again”, is still worth seeing!
Currently, you can stream the film – as well as all other ‘Home Alone’ installments except the 2012 TV spin-off ‘Home Alone: The Christmas Coup’ – on Disney+:
The film was already planned when filming for part 2 had not even been completed. Culkin would play a teenage version of Kevin McCallister. But the now 43-year-old retired from the film world in the mid-1990s and part 3 was completely redeveloped – now it was about Alex Pruitt, played by Alex D. Linz, who accidentally comes into possession of a toy car in which Er hides a circuit needed to control a new type of rocket. Soon, spies break into the unsuspecting boy’s home…
…and everything starts again! In best Kevin style, Alex plays a pretty nasty role among the invaders, and even if “Scooby-Doo” director Raja Gosnell’s film can’t keep up with its two predecessors in terms of humor, there’s at least one reason why you should need to look, it still needs to take a look – After all, Alex’s sister is played by one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the moment: Scarlett Johansson! Here you can see a photo of the later “Black Widow” actress:
Scarlett Johansson was 11 years old when Home Alone was filmed. But before that, she played numerous smaller roles in films like the Sean Connery thriller “The Swamp of Crime.” On the other hand, if you want to know in which failed family comedy starring Bruce Willis and “Lord of the Rings” star Elijah Wood she first appeared on screen, you can read on here:
