After “The VVitch”, “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman”, Robert Eggers is without a doubt one of the most interesting filmmakers working today. The expectations for his new film ‘Nosferatu’ are therefore high. This is a new edition of FW Murnau’s horror milestone “Nosferatu, a symphony of horror” from 1922.
Also participating: Lily-Rose Depp (“The Idol”), Bill Skarsgard (“Barbarian”), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Godzilla”) and Emma Corrin, known from the Netflix hit series “The Crown”. Willem Dafoe (“Antichrist”). In a new photo of “Nosferatu” Dafoe can now also present himself as vampire hunter Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz – and the story behind the photo is very special!
Because as we see, Willem Dafoe is standing in a grave in the photo, his facial expression radiating complete euphoria. And it looks like the actor is all alone here. But that is not the case, as director Robert Eggers revealed (via ): “In this series there are not only real flames, but also 2,000 real rats!” An absolute horror idea for many who have absolutely nothing to do with rodents.
It is not yet known when “Nosferatu” will be shown in German cinemas. In the United States the release falls on December 25. What we already know is that the film will be set in both Transylvania and Germany and will follow the well-known ‘Nosferatu’ story, although there will be some changes. As Ellen Hutter, Lily-Rose Depp will meet a vampire named Count Orlok (Skarsgard), who Eggers says has done something completely unique with the role.
