Registrations for the IX RoboCupJunior Panama competition will open next January.

This competition is for young people robotics brings together student teams from across the country competing to win the chance to represent the country at the global Robocup competition, which will be held in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, also in 2024.
At the national competition, groups can compete in two categories: RescueLine, in which teams must create a robot capable of avoiding obstacles and performing rescues; and OnStage, which consists of designing a robot that exhibits autonomous capabilities and interacts with other robots and humans.
The purpose of this competition is promotion skill development in students, expanding their knowledge, arousing their curiosity and increasing their comfort in working with technology.
To participate in RobocupJunior Panama It is necessary to form a team of two to three students aged 14 to 19 (full 01.07.2024) and have a mentor. Teams can be from official and private schools, as well as independent ones.
Serafin Blis, Science and Technology Learning Coordinator at Senacyt, emphasizes that the level of teams that Panama sends to the World Robotics Championship each year has increased significantly.
“Although the preparation of the international teams that qualify is very special, we generally have a lot of ability given what we see in the teams that participate in the World Cup,” he added.
This year, for example, the delegation of Panama received second position in one of the tests at RobocupJunior, which took place in Bordeaux, France.
The first phase of IX RoboCupJunior competition Panama It will cover January and February 2024 with registrations as well as webinars, tutorials and workshops; while the second phase will start in March and end in May 2024 with the final of the competition.
