After “The Three??? – Heir of the Dragon”: With these 2 cult cases, Justus Jonas and Co. soon in cinemas

Julius Weckauf, Nevio Wendt and Levi Brandl have solved their first cinema case as Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw and Bob Andrews aka “The Three Question Marks”. But with the blockbuster “The Three ??? – Heir of the Dragon” should not remain. Film distributor Sony, which is behind the remake, has already announced two ‘Three???’ films.

The launch calendar includes a film about the three sleuths from Rocky Beach for January 23, 2025 and January 22, 2026. Both films are still untitled in the official release list. But based on reports of German film financing, we already know which films are likely behind this.

“The Three??? and the Carpathian Dog”

Of The tree ??? and the Carpathian dog One of the absolute classics from the book or radio play is being made into a film. As with the first film, Tim Dünschede and Anil Kizilbuga write the script and Dünschede directs.

The young detectives are asked for help by gallery owner Mr. Prentice. His apartment is haunted and a valuable work of art, the Kaparten dog, has been stolen. Justus, Peter and Bob suspect that the thief is one of the neighbors. But as they have to remove one name after another from the suspect list, the question arises whether a ghost might be responsible after all.

“The Three??? – Island of the Dead”

The second project of director and author Tim Dünschede and his co-author Anil Kizilbuga is The tree ??? – Island of the Dead – based on the 100th occurrence of the question mark.

Here the detectives receive a threatening phone call: ‘Solve the riddle of the Sphinx, otherwise someone will lose their life.’ They soon find themselves in the middle of a new mysterious case involving a secret organization, a lost treasure and a legendary island. and as yet no one has returned alive.

“The Three??? – Heir of the Dragon” – a first success for the new trio

It’s no wonder sequels are evolving so quickly. “The Tree ??? – Heir of the Dragon” is so far the most successful German film of the 2023 cinema year, with almost 1.8 million cinema tickets sold. The young adult crime thriller recently celebrated its Netflix premiere and landed at the top of the streaming service’s internal charts.

Plus, you don’t have much time to make sequels with this cast. After all, the young actors in the three main roles grow older quickly. It seems only logical to produce the two sequels in a short time. The fact that two absolute cult cases have been chosen for the sequels, the classic about the Carpathian Dog and the anniversary episode No. 100 about the Island of the Dead, should please many fans.
